Learning Laboratory: Dr. William Fisher on Moving ҵ Online

As part of the ҵ Digital Campus, the Office of Communications is launching a new video series in which staff and faculty members share their views on how the Covid-19 pandemic will affect their fields of study. Each week, we’ll take on new topics – starting with episode one from ҵ’s Provost, Dr. William Fisher, who discusses how ҵ moved from on-campus teaching to remote learning procedures in five days flat.

Dr. Fisher joined ҵ as Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs on August 1, 2018. Before taking up his role at ҵ, he served as the Associate Provost and Dean of Graduate Studies at Clark University in Worcester, Massachusetts. While at Clark, he was also Professor of International Development and Social Change in the interdisciplinary Department of International Development, Community and Environment, which he helped create. Dr. Fisher is a graduate of Bucknell University and holds master’s degrees in anthropology and international affairs, as well as a doctorate, from Columbia University. He is a specialist in the language and culture of Nepal, where he has done extensive fieldwork and research.
