Writing Lab

Help with AI issues/challenges

  • AI tools are not currently part of the Writing Lab's toolkit or best practices, but they continue to grapple with the question of whether to recommend AI generated tools to students who visit them
  • This term they are:
    • Playing with, creating, testing, revising, and trying out some AI powered prompts that could potentially benefit students in their writing process: from generating ideas and narrowing the scope of the writing project to reverse outlining
    • Discussing ethical concerns that come with adopting these tools
  • When/if they choose to use AI tools, they will ask to see the student's course syllabus, read together their professor's policy on AI use in class, and discuss the repercussions of violating ҵ’s academic integrity code.
  • They are eager to learn how faculty are reimagining / reshaping assignments, activities and policies; how they are navigating AI’s challenges and opportunities in their classes; and how the Writing Lab can support you. “Please contact us with feedback and suggestions.”
